John Curtis Wins 5th Straight Louisiana Title

John Curtis will have to make room for another high school football trophy. Friday the Patriots beat Evangel Christian 35-14 for the Louisiana Class 2A state title. It was the fifth straight for John Curtis and 23rd overall. Click here for game story.

Louisiana's defending 4A champ Bastrop will not be returning to the Superdome next weekend to defend its title. Friday night 12th Belle Chase beat the Rams 35-34 to advance to the title game where it will face Archbishop Shaw. Belle Chase's only loss of the season was a 28-27 loss to Shaw back on October 17th. Defending Louisiana 5A state champ Destrehan had its 26-game win streak tested on Friday night in the state quarterfinals. The Wildcats scored 21 fourth quarter points to beat Higgins 27-18 and extend the win streak to 27 games. Next week Destrehan will face Baton Rouge-Central in the state semifinals.
