The Louisiana Superdome and the Allstate Sugar Bowl have announced a new high school football doubleheader that will be played Friday, September 9th in the Superdome.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl Prep Classic will feature four playoff teams from the 2010 season.

John Curtis will face Westgate in the opener of the doubleheader at 6 P.M.  That game will be followed by St. Paul's playing Acadiana.

"The Superdome has always been a great venue for football at all levels, and each year the state championship games are a big draw for people who enjoy the great tradition of Louisiana high school football," says Superdome General Manager Alan Freeman. "We see this new event sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl developing into one of the top high school double-headers in the country."

John Curtis enters the 2011 season ranked #2 by MaxPreps.com in its Preseason Small Schools Top 25 Poll.  Last season the Patriots lost to Evangel Christian in the 2A championship game.  Westgate has advanced to the Class 5A semifinals three of the past four seasons.

"Thanks to the good people at the Sugar Bowl, early-season high school football is back in the Superdome," said J.T. Curtis, head coach at John Curtis Christian School. "It starts with two great matchups, giving the fans an opportunity to see some of the best teams in the state in head-to-head competition. We’re very excited to be part of it."

The Acandiana/St. Paul's match-up features two teams that squared-off in the Class 5A quarterfinals last year.  Acandiana won that game 40-21, and then lost in the state championship game 21-14 to West Monroe.
